Saiko Okawa

 

Born in Japan, I began piano lessons at age four.

 

I took first prize in the Ko-bun-ren solo contest, receiving the award

for the superintendent of education in Kanagawa prefecture in 1990.

I got a bachelor's degree of music. I appeared as an audition winner in the Yokohama Newcomers Concert. I was chosen to perform in the 115th Recommendation Music Concert at the prefectural music hall in Kanagawa, and performed in other venues in Japan and USA.

 

I have studied with Toshiko Tezuka, Hiroshi Kurokawa, Wermbach-Havemann Bernhard and Claudio Soares, and attended the International Piano Academy in Karlsruhe, Germany.

 

I have studied with Caltech pianist-in-residence Professor James Boyk. I gave a solo concert at Caltech.

 

I performed at K-MOZART 105.1 FM "Sundays Live Music".
